My Story

Initially, I tried to avoid family law. But it was where I was meant to be.

I’ve wanted to be a lawyer since middle school when I started participating in the Youth and Government program in Cleburne, Texas. I then went to Texas A&M, graduating in 2006 with a business degree and followed that up with law school at Texas Tech, graduating cum laude in 2009. The first years of my legal career were spent at a large firm in DFW doing all types of civil litigation, but my heart wasn’t in it. I got tired of pushing paper, never going to court, and feeling like I wasn’t making an impact in people’s lives. I hung a shingle in 2014, transitioning to family law and haven’t looked back since.

I love the realness of family law—the immediacy of the issues, the needs, and the importance. My clients are dealing with the most important thing in the world—their family and their future—and I love helping them through it.

When I’m not in court or working, I’m chauffeuring my two kids to their various activities. If there happens to be an offseason, then I’m either camping, on an archeology dig, or traveling somewhere off the beaten path.

What to Know About Working With Me

  • I’m a straight shooter.

I’m not afraid to deliver hard truths—whether it’s to a judge, a lawyer, or my client. People trust me because I don’t bluff. I say what I mean, and I mean what I say. My clients can trust me because attorneys and judges know I can back up my claims (legally and factually).

  • I’m a tactician, not a bulldog.

Bulldogs slobber everywhere. You don’t want a “bulldog” lawyer. You need a thoughtful tactician. There may be a time and a place for a sledgehammer, but a scalpel is generally better.

  • I bring calm to the chaos.

Helping my clients navigate the most difficult phase of their lives is important to me. Emotions are high and the legal process is overwhelming. I can help you sort through it all and find strength you never knew you had. My job is to take the stress off of your shoulders and guide you through any obstacles that may arise.
